In Kane’s book "The Last Seat in the House: The Story of Hanley Sound" He examines how sound engineer pioneer Bill Hanley’s contributions in outdoor live sound helped create entire music production industry. Through an extensive ten-year interview and archival process, Kane uncovers how Hanley and his company--Hanley Sound --impacted a developing festival and concert marketplace.
Known as the “Father of Festival Sound,” Medford’s Bill Hanley (b. 1937) made his indelible mark as a sound engineer at the 1969 Woodstock Music and Arts Fair. Hanley is credited with creating the sound of Woodstock, which literally made the massive festival possible.
Please join author John Kane, and Bill Hanley for a once in a lifetime evening of discussion, book signing, and a special 30 min sneak-preview-showing of Kane’s documentary “The Last Seat in the House” featuring Hanley’s Medford upbringing.
